This guide walks you through the first setup steps after unboxing your FlowGrow tower.

You’ll learn how to assemble the tower, fill the reservoir, add nutrients, place your plants, set the timer, and understand what’s normal in the first few days.

Keep this page handy while you set up. It’s designed to be read as you go.

Before you assemble

Choose your growing spot before setting up the tower.

Look for:

• Bright natural light
• A stable, level surface
• Access to power
• Enough room to fill, check, and rotate the tower if needed
• A spot where you’ll walk past often

FlowGrow works best in a bright indoor space near a window, or in a sheltered outdoor area with good natural light.

Assemble your tower

Follow the printed quick-start assembly guide included in your box.

You’ll work through these main steps:

  1. 1 Push the wheels firmly into the reservoir base.
  2. 2 Insert the base support column into the centre of the reservoir.
  3. 3 Align the hole in the column with the outlet opening on the side of the reservoir.
  4. 4 Install and tighten the pump outlet fitting.
  5. 5 Attach the hose to the underside of the flow cap.
  6. 6 Fit the flow cap to the top tower section.
  7. 7 Stack the tower sections one by one, aligning the grooves as you go. The sections can feel a little firm at first, so push down evenly until each one sits securely in place. As you stack, feed the hose down through the centre column. This is much easier than trying to thread the hose through the full tower once it’s already assembled.
  8. 8 Lower the assembled tower into the reservoir, guiding the centre tube into place.
  9. 9 Connect the pump, hose, filter, timer, and power adaptor.
  10. 10 Fill the reservoir with water before turning the pump on.
Important: Do not plug in the pump until water has been added to the reservoir.

Fill your reservoir

Now it starts to feel real. Fill the reservoir with 15 litres of water, then add your FlowGrow Grow nutrients.

Start gently

For newly added seedlings, young leafy greens, and herbs, begin with a gentle settling-in mix.

Grow Part A 40 ml
Grow Part B 40 ml

Increase as plants grow

Once plants look settled and are growing strongly, increase to the standard growing mix.

Grow Part A 80 ml
Grow Part B 80 ml
  • Add nutrients to water, not the other way around.
  • Use equal parts A and B.
  • Keep A and B separate until diluted in the reservoir.
  • If plants are very young, start gently and increase nutrient strength as they settle in.
Topping up: As the water level drops, top up with fresh water first. If you are adding a larger amount of water, add nutrients at the same strength you are currently using. Once plants are growing strongly, use 5 ml Grow Part A + 5 ml Grow Part B per litre of added water.

Add your plants

If you’re starting from seedlings:

  • Place seedlings into plant sponges or rockwool cubes
  • If using rockwool Insert into net pots
  • Sit them into the tower openings

If you’ve already got small plants:

  • Gently transfer them into planting sponges
  • Make sure roots can hang down into the tower

You don’t need to pack anything in tightly.

The roots will find their way as the water flows.

Turn it on

Once the reservoir has water in it and your pump is connected, you can
turn the system on.

Set the timer to:

1 minute ON every 30 minutes

When the pump turns on, water is lifted from the reservoir up through
the centre hose to the flow cap at the top of the tower.

From there, water gently flows down through the tower and returns to the
reservoir to be used again.

Before leaving it running, check:

• Water is flowing from the top
• The hose is securely connected
• The pump is sitting inside the reservoir
• The power connection is dry and safe
• The tower is standing level
• There are no leaks around the outlet fitting

The first time you turn it on, stay nearby and watch one full cycle.
This helps you see how the system works and gives you confidence that
everything is connected properly.

FlowGrow works by pumping nutrient water up the central hose to the flow
cap, where it spreads outward and cascades down through the tower before
returning to the reservoir.

Your first week of growing

The first week is mostly about settling in. Your plants are adjusting to the tower, the water flow, the light, and their new growing conditions.

Days 1–2

Everything may look much the same. Your plants are settling in and adjusting.

Days 3–5

You may notice leaves lifting slightly as roots begin to adapt.

Days 5–7

New growth usually starts to appear and plants begin to look more at home.

Helpful to know: Not everything happens overnight. Good light, healthy seedlings, temperature, and plant variety all affect how quickly growth appears.

A quick note on light

Your plants need good light to grow well.

Best results come from:

  • Bright indoor spaces near a window
  • Or a sheltered outdoor spot with sun

Less light means slower growth.
More light means stronger, faster growth.

If your space is low light, growth may still happen, but it will be more gradual. A compatible LED grow light can help if natural light is limited.

Your simple growing routine

Once your tower is running, the routine is light and easy to follow. Small, regular checks work better than waiting too long between them.

Every few days

Check the water level and top up the reservoir if needed. Make sure the pump stays covered with water.

Once a week

Check plant health, root growth, water level, and general water flow. Add nutrients when topping up larger amounts of water.

As plants grow

Harvest outer leaves as needed, remove any tired leaves, and give plants enough space so light and air can move around them.

Helpful to know: You’ll quickly learn what normal looks like in your own home. A quick check as you walk past is usually enough to spot when something needs attention.
